Hawkins Reservoir Camping Trip

Thursday night we went camping to a somewhat local place, Hawkins Reservoir, in the Marsh Valley area.  I have always loved camping and was feeling the itch to get out and do something fun like that.  We had a lot of fun.  We fished the next morning and afternoon in our inflatable boats.  Sad to say the fishing wasn't amazing like we thought it would be, but it was still fun to be out in the boats.  We saw lots of animals:  a moose, several varieties of ducks and birds, deer, and bunnies.
We had instant oatmeal and ham for breakfast.  I love our little stoves, they worked awesome. Part of the fun of camping for me is the food prep and eating.

The one and only fish we landed that day, a rainbow trout.  We each had several bites.  Will had one that was super powerful and he fought it for a little bit but then it got off, so I bet it was a whopper.
Since the catching fish was less than desirable, we decided to go back to Preston on Friday afternoon.  When we left we weren't exactly sure if we would be camping 2 nights or just one.  But we decided that since we were both pretty exhausted from kicking our fins around the whole reservoir trying to find the fish, and with such a low yield, we were ready to go home.  We both stayed warm and fairly comfortable sleeping in the night.  In the morning my sinuses have never felt so clear and open.  I think it was nice to breathe some clean fresh air instead of stuff house air and my nose liked that.  It was so nice to get out in nature!  The campground is pretty nice.  There's about 7 or 8 spots with covered tables and fire pits in each one.  And two outhouse bathrooms.
